IT'S BEEN A WHILE...

...am sorry for that. Life - she is very busy, and I rarely get the time to even turn on the computer at home, let alone write a post. Having a BlackBerry doesn't help my cause either, because I get all my emails and Facebook on it, so don't feel the urge to turn on the computer either. BUT - I miss you guys, all my friends in the computer, and also, as I print a blog book every year, I want to continue to blog so my kiddies will be able to catch a glimpse of what life was like "in the dark-ages" ;)

So... without further delays, here are some bullets to update on the goings on of The Weavers:

• Ryan had his 8th birthday party yesterday. He had an Action Cricket and Action Soccer party.
• I can highly recommend this party for any 8+ year old boys! It was awesome for them, and us Mums could sit and chat and eat and relax whilst the coaches entertained the boys :)
• He is at a soccer tournament this morning. Such a busy little man now. x
• Pete is away for the next 2 weeks. Boo - hiss! These are the ONLY times that I regret having such an awesome, hands on, involved husband and father! Cos when he's away, the kids and I miss him soooo much. Come home soon Daddy.... we miss you... and Mummys turning into a real dragon ;)
• Emily is dancing in her Ballet Show next weekend. EISH - wena, but this ballet business is demanding. Rehearsals at the Civic theatre on Wednesday and Thursday next week, a full dress rehearsal followed by a charity performance on Friday, and then 3 x shows on Saturday! I think I am going to have one very tired little ballet girl this time next week....
• Ryan has been chosen to represent saints for Judo. This has come as a surprise, as Judo is not one of his main sports. I only signed him up to help make him more assertive... but it seems he may have some "fighting" talent after all! He jumped 2 belts at his 1st grading, and was awarded an Orange Belt... and now will be fighting in the Orange Belt division in this competition at Wits university in October. Lord help my nerves.... my baby fighting?? Who knew that I gave birth to a Ninja...
• Lukey, our baby boy.... is getting soooo big and grown up! Can't believe he will be FOUR next month.
• Emily had her Grade R assessment at Saints (Stithians) last week. The little Madam walked out of the classroom after the assessment, with her hands on her hips, and announced " That was sooooo easy!"
• I am so busy at the practice. I do not have a free appointment in my diary now until 6th Oct. This is all good, yes, but also exhausting, when you factor in my 3 childrens busy schedules. Phew... no time for the mama, KWIM??
• In light of the above.... I am very much looking forward to the end of october when we are going to the 'Berg on a REAL holiday. By REAL holiday, I mean.... all inclusive, kiddies club, kiddies dining room etc... which means lots of (much needed) R & R for the Mama and Papa. Can't wait.
• And one final bullet...... ( it would appear that not blogging regularly means I have a lot to say?)
• My hubby, who BTW, is NOT the runner person in the couple of us (I was/ am... sigh... if I had time?)....,ran a 10 km race 2 weeks ago in a time of 46 mins. Don't you just hate him??? ;)

How cool are those cupcake boxes? I am used to transporting cuppies sliding around on a tray... until I discovered these nifty boxes at our local baking shop on Thursday :) And yes - the big one is a GIANT cupcake :)

WE HAVE AN 8 YEAR OLD IN THE HOUSE!

Our darling Ryan. Today - you are eight. As unbelievable as it seems, we have been blessed with you in our lives for 8 years already! It honestly seems like yesterday that we brought you home from the hospital.

The past 8 years have seen you grow into a sensitive, kind,sports-crazy young boy. We are so proud of you, our big boy.

 

At 8 years, this is what floats your boat:

• The Sharks rugby team
• Soccer ( Especially Everton)
• Cricket
• Star -Wars
• Wheres Wally and other search-for books
• Tennis
• Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii - especially Star Wars Lego game and Mario Karts
• Chocolate - especially Bar Ones and Aero

You are growing up so much and it thrills us to see how your personality and preferences are taking shape. You tackle most tasks with enthusiasm  and always give of your best. Your best friend at the moment is Mr Fluffy Pants - your pet hamster. You love to take him out of his cage every day and you show great maturity with ensuring he has food, water and a clean cage.

You are a lively member of our family, but sometimes get drowned out by your little brother and sister. Despite this - you know the pecking order in the family and thrive on being the oldest. You take it upon yourself to look after the little 2, and when necessary - you will remind them that you are the oldest! You love going to school and you love your teacher, Mrs Wood.

You have chosen to have an Action cricket party this year.... and you have invited no girls.

You are a delight to us. You add a ray of sunshine to our lives.... as you grow, so we grow as parents. I love being on this journey with you, my special, precious, delicious boy! Stay as sweet as you are always x.

Happy happy birthday our gorgeous big boy. We love you and are so very proud of you x x

 

FEEL IT.....IT IS HERE....

oops, sorry! Wrong tournament, wrong sport.... but I'm actually talking about summer! Oh yes, baby! Summer has arrived in all her glory. And we are relishing it! Basking in the sun, swimming in the warm water...aaah! Summer, how I've missed you.

And moving swiftly on before the Northern Hemisphere peeps switch off.... lets get onto that Tournament thingy that starts tomorrow. The Rrrrrugger, ek se! Another reason why we are walking around with grins on our faces. As a sport loving nation, and family, we are just itching to start watching some World Cup matches. Pity its in NZ, cos that means the matches are all on at really silly times for us, but still, our enthusiasm will not be dampened.

Our little dual nationality family has fared well in the Rugby World cup so far.... ever since we've been a family of Weaver birds. Way back in 2003, when little Ryan was just 6 weeks old.... England won the Rugby World Cup in Australia. Aaaah.... what a schweet victory that was! I remember Pete, myself, little Ryan and Uncle Steve (Petes big brother) all watching the final at the crack of dawn in our little London house.

 
Good grief... I barely recognise us! Pete with hair! Me all chubby faced post pregnancy. And bless... look at our little Ryan!

By the time the next World Cup rolled by 4 years later.... we had expanded to a family of 5, and this time around, our loyalties were seated firmly in the 'Bok camp! Little Luke was just 2 weeks old when South Africa won the World Cup in France in 2007. I remember it clearly, all watching in our large house in Buckinghamshire :)

 
Ok... so the little 2 were dressed in England gear, but purely because we didn't have Bokke gear for them... being based in England and all.  Can you spot little Miss Madams leg in plaster? Yes... little Miss Muffet broke her blerrie leg at the age of 16 months

 
Eish... look at that face.... should have given us a clue to all the trouble that we were/are in for?

Anyhoo... gone off the subject a bit, so back to the World Cup.

So - here we are, 4 years later again.... and this time we don't have a new born mascot to add to the mix. ( Did you all think that this was some sort of elaborate pregnancy announcement?) I hope that doesn't mean that we are now not destined for any sort of glory, you know, us not having a little good luck baby and all.... don't blame us if your team doesn't win, kay?

And with that... I declare open Rugby watching season in our house. Supporting 2 nations means we have double the amount of games to watch. I can quite cheerfully switch Rugby jerseys and cheer for either England or SA. And luckily for us, the way the draw falls this year, the only time SA and England will play each other, is in the Finals! And if that happens: sorry babes, but our Bokke will trample all over those fair English roses ;)
